Ramon Chinyoung Sr. will enter his fourth season in the NFL and first as the Steelers' running backs coach in 2026. He most recently served as the assistant offensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys (2025).
Chinyoung was promoted to assistant offensive line coach in Dallas in 2025 after serving as the Cowboys' assistant offensive line/quality control coach for two years (2023-24). Chinyoung began his NFL coaching career in 2022 as an offensive quality control coach for the Denver Broncos.
In 2025, Chinyoung aided an offensive line, despite the retirement of perennial All-Pro guard Zach Martin, that improved mightily in the run game. Dallas – which ranked 30th in the League in yards/rush in 2024 (3.97) – averaged 4.59 yards/rush last season, which was good for 10th in the NFL. The Cowboys had not finished a season in the League's top-10 in yards/rush since 2021. Dallas ranked ninth in the NFL in rush offense (125.7) and held the lowest three-and-out percentage in the League (22.0%).
Running back Javonte Williams surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career in 2025. His 1,201 rushing yards were the second-most by a Dallas player in his first season with the franchise. He ranked among the League's top running backs in first downs by rush (67, sixth), rush yards (1,201, ninth), TDs by rush (11, eighth), rush attempts (252, 10th) and rushes of 10+ yards (26, t-12th).
Chinyoung assisted an offensive line group in 2024 that paved the way for the offense to average 327.5 yards/game and 100.3 rush yards/game. The unit improved greatly in the second half of the season, averaging 118.6 rush yards/game from Weeks 9-18 and clearing the way for Rico Dowdle to surpass 1,000 rush yards for the first time in his career.
After Week 9 in 2024, Dowdle ranked fifth in rush yards (833) and rushes of 10+ yards (21), and second in yards after contact (628). Offensive tackle Tyler Smith earned his second Pro Bowl nod and Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe combined for 27 starts and 31 games played as rookies in 2024.
In Chinyoung's first season with Dallas, he helped coach an offensive line that anchored the NFL's top scoring offense (29.9 points/game) while protecting the NFL's passing TD leader in 2023 – Dak Prescott (36). Chinyoung also helped oversee two Cowboys offensive linemen garner Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors. Zack Martin was named first-team All-Pro, while Smith was named second-team in just his second NFL season.
Chinyoung came to the NFL with 10 years of full-time coaching experience, and he previously served as head coach/campus coordinator at Fort Bend Willowridge H.S. in Houston, Texas (2020-21). In two seasons at the helm, Chinyoung led the Eagles to an appearance in the 2020 Texas H.S. Football Playoffs.
Prior to Willowridge, Chinyoung spent eight seasons (2012-19) at Westfield H.S., also in Houston. He served as assistant offensive line coach for four seasons (2012-15) before being promoted to assistant head coach while also overseeing the offensive line (2016-19). During his eight seasons at Westfield, the Mustangs recorded a 96-15 overall record, including a 58-1 mark in district play and registered first-place finishes in the district every year of his tenure. As assistant head coach, Chinyoung helped lead the team to 47 wins and an undefeated record in district play in each of his final four seasons. In that span, Westfield recorded five consecutive playoff appearances, posting a 12-4 record in the postseason.
Chinyoung attended Southern University, where he was a four-year letterwinner (2007-10). He was named first-team All-SWAC on two occasions while being honored as a first-team All-Louisiana player in 2009. Chinyoung earned a bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation and leisure studies.
He and his wife, Morgan Broussard-Chinyoung, have two sons, Ramon II (RJ) and Myles Henry.
