Bell is Digest Player of the Week

Le'Veon Bell led the Steelers with 149 yards from scrimmage in the loss to New England.

Running Back

There seemed to be no formula for the Steelers to defeat New England today at Heinz Field without Le’Veon Bell getting a lot of touches on offense and then doing a lot with them. The Steelers didn’t defeat the Patriots – the 27-16 loss was their second in a row and dropped their record to 4-3 – but Bell nevertheless was a big part of the offense.

Bell finished with 81 yards rushing on 21 carries, and he added 10 catches for 68 yards. His 149 yards from scrimmage led the team, and Bell is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were Antonio Brown, who caught seven passes for 106 yards, and ran one reverse for 13 more; Jarvis Jones, who had seven tackles, one pressure, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery; Steven Johnson, who had three tackles on special teams and forced the fumble that Greg Warren recovered; Lawrence Timmons, who led the team with 11 tackles; and Cobi Hamilton, who had only three catches for 36 yards, but two of those three converted a pair of third-and-10 situations.
