Ventrone promoted; Jones released

The Steelers promoted safety Ross Ventrone to the team's active roster, it was announced today.

Ventrone was signed to the Steelers' practice squad on December 29, 2015. He played in five games with Pittsburgh this season before being released on October 13. Ventrone has played in 22 career games, and has recorded 11 special teams tackles.

To make room on the roster for Ventrone, the Steelers released wide receiver Jacoby Jones.
