Steelers Girls High School Flag Football Championship | Pittsburgh Steelers -

This spring, the Steelers offered a pilot program for area high school girls (grades 9-12) culminating in a Championship Tournament at Heinz Field this Sunday, May 22. The goal of the program is to add teams each year to become a sponsored or sanctioned sport in Pennsylvania.

  • The participating schools in 2022 are Ambridge, Ellis School, Moon, North Allegheny, Shaler Area, and West Allegheny.
  • The Steelers provided the flag belts, footballs, and other costs to help launch the program.
  • T.J. Watt and David DeCastro allocated their 2021 Pro Bowl Grant of $5,000 each to help support the program launch.
  • Nike provided uniforms to each school.
  • The Steelers hosted two (2) Girls Flag Football Jamborees in November and February for over 100 interested girls and were joined by Charlie Batch and Jordan Dangerfield.
  • Great support from Pittsburgh Flag Football League to secure game officials and at our Jamboree events
