David Corley is in his second season as the Steelers' assistant quarterbacks coach in 2023. He was hired by Pittsburgh on April 19, 2022.
In his first season with the Steelers, Corley assisted in the development of 2022 first-round draft pick Kenny Pickett, who started the final 12 games of the season and led the team to a 7-5 finish as a starter, including five wins in his last six games.
Corley, a veteran college coach and former standout quarterback at William & Mary, spent the previous season at the University of Richmond (2021) as their running backs coach.
Prior to Richmond, Corley spent the 2020 season working in the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC) as a running backs coach at South Carolina State. The Bulldogs finished the COVID-shortened season with a 3-1 record. South Carolina State led the MEAC in yards per rush (4.8) and rushing TDs (3).
Corley has also coached wide receivers at Penn State (2018), where he led KJ Hamler to a Penn State freshman record of 1,417 all-purpose yards. In 2017, as the wide receivers coach at Army, he helped the Black Knights win the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy and post a school-record 10 wins.
Corley spent three seasons at Connecticut (2014-16), working with the running backs for two years and wide receivers for one season. He also was the team's Director of Player Engagement during his tenure and served as Special Teams Coordinator for two years.
Corley's college coaching resume began at his alma mater William & Mary where he spent six seasons (2008-13). During his time with the Tribe, he mentored running backs, wide receivers, quarterbacks and spent time as the assistant offensive coordinator (2011-12) and passing game coordinator (2013). Under Corley's mentorship, Jonathon Grimes earned Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year honors in 2008 and First Team All-Conference in 2009. Corley was also on staff for two NCAA FCS Playoff berths and a quarterfinal appearance in 2010.
His NFL experience comes from serving as the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellow multiple times throughout his career. He worked with the Carolina Panthers (2021), Houston Texans (2019), Panthers (2013) and Steelers (2010).
As a player, Corley saw action in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and Arena Football League. He was the starting quarterback at William & Mary four seasons (1999-2002). He finished his career with 27 program records. Corley was inducted into the William & Mary Hall of Fame in 2014.
Corley graduated from William & Mary with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 2002. He has two children – a daughter named Charlie and a son named Bishop.
