Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the Pittsburgh Steelers are taking the annual drive to blitz hunger into cyberspace.
To make it easier for Steelers Nation to help the Food Bank this Thanksgiving, the team will conduct a virtual food drive instead of holding a collection at a home game. Fans can visit www.pittsburghfoodbank.org/steelers from Nov. 13-28 to help those less fortunate this holiday season.
At the website fans can provide a year of milk for a family, turkeys and fixings, including fresh produce, or complete holiday meals for families.
"With more than 110,000 individuals served each month through the Food Bank and its local partner agencies, we appreciate donations from all sources and we are especially grateful to the Pittsburgh Steelers for their ongoing support," said Lisa Scales, president & CEO of Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. "Virtual food drives provide a unique opportunity for people to make a huge impact on their communities by allowing The Food Bank to use its purchasing power to turn every $1 donated into $5 worth of fresh, healthy food for our friends and neighbors in need."
