Pouncey giving back to his hometown

When Maurkice Pouncey gives back to his community, he doesn't do it half way. He goes all out, hosting a weekend's worth of events through the Team Pouncey Foundation for those in his hometown of Lakeland, Florida.

From June 26-29 Pouncey and his twin brother Mike will host four events, a celebrity basketball game, football camp, community cookout and golf outing, all to help those in his hometown.

The highlight for Pouncey is the 5th Annual Pouncey Football Camp on June 27, providing free instruction for kids.

"We are excited about it," said Pouncey. "Our foundation is doing really well. Mike and I give back to Lakeland and take a big part in it and open it up to anyone who wants to come to it.

"Our city doesn't have a lot of players who come back. They look up to Mike and I and we try to be the positive role models and give them something to look forward to. Everything is totally free and we have a full weekend and golf tournament this year."

Pouncey said seeing the reaction from the kids who take part each year means the world to him.

"It puts a smile on your face and makes your heart grow," said Pouncey. "Growing up we didn't have a lot of players who came back and did camps. For us to be able to come back and do it, everyone is thankful and supportive in our city."

Foundation Mission: The mission statement of Team Pouncey is broad, but it allows us to assist as many children as possible and concentrates on the two-state region.  With this mission, the Foundation reaches out to children of all different backgrounds. Children need opportunities through which they can grow and learn.
