If you heard it once, you heard it 1,000 times watching the magic Troy Polamalu created on the football field.

It was simply 'Troy being Troy.'

A quiet, soft-spoken man off the field, Polamalu transformed into a whole new being, nicknamed the 'Tasmanian Devil,' when he took the field and transformed the safety position at the same time.

His style of play was like no other, with an innate ability to track down a ball carrier no matter where he was on the field. With his hair flowing out of his helmet, Polamalu would be a blur zipping from sideline to sideline to make a hit, accounting for 577 solo tackles in his 12 seasons.

Polamalu was drafted by the Steelers in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft, the 16th pick overall. He played 12 seasons, and was a two-time Super Bowl champion, a four-time first team All-Pro selection, two-time second team All-Pro selection, NFL Defensive Player of the Year (2010), eight-time Pro Bowler and a member of the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team and Steelers All-Time Team.

His career totals include 12.0 sacks, 32 interceptions, 13 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries during the regular season, and his postseason numbers include one half-sack and three interceptions, one which was returned for a touchdown.
