At this year's Family Fest, the highlight of the night was an opportunity for fans to see a live practice at Heinz Field, many of whom were making their first visit to the stadium. However, the players weren't the only ones being recognized on the field.
**Steelers Nation Unite** honored the winners of this year's Fan Awards with an on-field presentation prior to the start of practice. It was a chance for fans to take center stage and receive recognition for all the work they put in supporting their team throughout the year.
Steelers Nation Unite members cast their votes at **SteelersNationUnite.com** during the offseason for the stories, photos and traditions that they thought were the best-of-the-best. The winners were announced before training camp began, and all were invited to Heinz Field to be recognized at Family Fest. This year's winners came from everywhere, including as nearby as Pittsburgh, and as far away as Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. There were also winners from Washington, New Jersey, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Ireland.
Among the winners in attendance was Darcey Parasynchuk of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada who, along with 11 members of his family, was on-hand to accept the award for the best Steelers-themed car. Even though it was quite a trek to get to Pittsburgh, it was an easy decision for him to be on-hand for a special night with his family.
"As soon as I got the email that I won, I said we were going," said Parasynchuk. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime moment."
Fans were recognized for everything from traveling to all Steelers away games and awesome fan caves, to having the most yards among all members and being the top yard-earning season ticket holder.
