The Pittsburgh Steelers High School Football Showcase, presented by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, returns for another year this fall. Fans help determine what Western Pennsylvania game the Steelers cover each week through a special online vote. Once the game of the week has been determined, the Steelers help celebrate it with video reports and social media coverage, which includes a Steelers player appearing as an honorary co-captain! Follow all the action on Steelers.com, on Twitter and SnapChat - @SteelersYouthFB.
The Steelers believe that NFL Flag Football is a great experience for kids of all ages and skill levels. We have worked with local programs including the Pittsburgh Flag Football League and had a team compete in the NFL Flag National Championships at Pro Bowl. NFL Flag Football is a fast paced, high energy brand of football where all players are eligible to catch passes, play defense and develop football skills.
The Pittsburgh Steelers host four area non-contact football camps for boys and girls ages 6-14. The camps consist of two days of training where the kids learn eight different positions, team concepts and play NFL Flag Football Games. The instruction comes from the best high school coaches in Western Pennsylvania and 4-6 current and former Steelers players, who also talk to the campers about some of their valuable life lessons. Camps are held in June and July at California University of PA, Slippery Rock University, Saint Vincent College, and West Allegheny High School.
The Steelers and USA Football continue to work together to make playing football the best experience possible for players, coaches, and families. Programs from USA Football include Heads Up Football, Player Safety Coach Clinics, Protection Tour at Heinz Field in 2017 and more. USA Football also provides equipment grants to eligible youth and high school football programs.
