PRO (65-23/0-0): Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Arthur Moats was signed to a one-year contract with the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent (from Buffalo Bills) on March 24, 2014…originally selected by the Bills in the sixth round (178thoverall) of the 2010 NFL Draft…named the Bills’ Walter Payton Man of the Year and the recipient of the team’s Ed Block Courage Award in 2013.

  • 9/21 at Carolina: Saw action at LB in place of injured LB Jarvis Jones…totaled a season-high two tackles…added his first career sack as a Steeler.
  • 9/28 vs. Tampa Bay: Made his first career start at OLB as a Steeler.

2013 (16-12): Linebacker Arthur Moats set career highs in games played (16) and starts (12)…recorded a career-high 48 tackles, including five games with five or more stops…added six special teams stops (two 10/13 vs. Cincinnati, and one on 9/8 vs. New England, 11/10 at Pittsburgh, 11/17 vs. N.Y. Jets and 12/1 vs. Atlanta).

  • 9/15 vs. Carolina: Totaled a career-high and season-high eight tackles to go along with one QB pressure.
  • 9/29 vs. Baltimore: Was part of a defense that held the Ravens to 24 rushing yards and zero rushing first downs (tied a team record).
  • 10/20 vs. Miami: Played in his 50th career contest.

     2012 (14-4): Linebacker Arthur Moats saw action in 14 contests with four starts…placed on the Reserve/Injured List on December 18 with an ankle injury and missed the remainder of the season…totaled 18 tackles on defense and seven special teams tackles (two 11/15 vs. Miami and 12/9 vs. St. Louis, and one 9/16 vs. Kansas City, 10/21 vs. Tennessee and 11/25 at Indianapolis).

  • 9/9 vs. N.Y. Jets: Posted a season-high six tackles.
  • 9/23 at Cleveland: Tied his season high with six tackles.
  • 12/16 vs. Seattle: Left the game in the first half due to an ankle injury and did not return. 
  • 12/18: Placed on the Reserve/Injured List with an ankle injury.

     2011 (14-0): Linebacker Arthur Moats played in 14 games…inactive for the first two games (at Kansas City and vs. Oakland)…totaled 20 tackles, tied his career high with 2.5 sacks, forced one fumble and recovered one fumble…added nine special teams tackles (two 10/9 vs. Philadelphia, 12/11 at San Diego and 12/24 at Denver, and one 9/25 vs. New England, 10/16 at N.Y. Giants and 11/27 at N.Y. Jets).

  • 10/9 vs. Philadelphia: Hurried QB Michael Vick which caused an interception by Bills’ safety George Wilson.
  • 10/30 vs. Washington: Had a half-sack.
  • 12/18 vs. Miami: Recorded his first career fumble recovery.
  • 12/24 vs. Denver: Sacked and stripped QB Tim Tebow for his first full sack of the season and first forced fumble of the year…marked his second career forced fumble.
  • 1/1 at New England: Recorded a sack in back-to-back games for the second time in his career, a 10-yarder on QB Tom Brady.

     2010 (15-4): Linebacker Arthur Moats saw action in 15 games, starting the final four of the season…inactive 10/10 vs. Jacksonville due to an elbow injury…recorded 23 tackles, set a career-high with 2.5 sacks and added his first career forced fumble…also had a career-high 10 tackles on special teams (two 9/19 at Green Bay, 11/7 vs. Chicago, 11/14 vs. Detroit, and one 9/26 at New England, 11/28 vs. Pittsburgh, 12/5 at Minnesota and 12/12 vs. Cleveland).

  • 9/12 vs. Miami: Made his NFL debut seeing action on special teams.
  • 9/26 at New England: Made a key block on C.J. Spiller’s 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
  • 10/3 vs. N.Y. Jets: Left the game in the fourth quarter with an elbow injury and did not return.
  • 10/24 at Baltimore: Recorded his first career half-sack on QB Joe Flacco.
  • 12/5 at Minnesota: Knocked down QB Brett Favre on the third play of the game, which led to an interception by Bills’ cornerback Drayton Florence.
  • 12/12 vs. Cleveland: Made his first NFL start…recorded a strip sack in the fourth quarter on QB Jake Delhomme…marked his first career full sack and first career forced fumble.
  • 12/19 at Miami: Recorded a sack on QB Chad Henne…became the first Bills’ rookie to record full sacks in back-to-back games since Jeff Wright in 1988.

     COLLEGE: Linebacker Arthur Moats started 29-of-49 games…recorded 208 tackles and finished second in school history with 29 sacks…added 48.5 TFLs. 2009: Earned the Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the top defensive player in the FCS…named James Madison’s Athlete of the Year…named a team captain…named CAA Defensive Player of the year and earned first-team all-conference accolades…started all 11 games…led the team with a career-best 90 tackles and set a school single-season record with 23.5 TFLs, which also led the nation…led the conference with 11.0 sacks, which ranked third in the nation…earned CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors with nine tackles, a forced fumble and a sack vs. Liberty…returned a fumble 68 yards for a touchdown to go along with seven tackles vs. Towson. 2008: Earned third-team All-CAA and second-team all-state honors by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association…named team’s Defensive Lineman of the Year…led the defensive line with 65 tackles (40 solo), good for third-best on the team…posted team-best 15.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks…the 11.5 sacks tied for school’s number-two single-season mark and a share of the CAA lead…registered a career-best 11 stops (in playoff win vs. Villanova. 2007: Started 5-of-12 games totaling 45 tackles…tied for the team lead in sacks (6.5), ranking sixth in the CAA…posted a then career-best eight tackles vs. Towson. 2006: Played in each game as a true freshman posting 18 tackles…recorded a season-best five tackles vs. William & Mary…returned a fumble 22 yards for JMU’s final score vs. Delaware.

     PERSONAL: Linebacker Arthur Moats attended Churchland High School (Portsmouth, Va.)…tabbed team’s most valuable player adding first-team all-district, All-Tidewater and second-team all-state defensive end accolades…also a district champion in wrestling and in the shot put as a senior…state all-star game invitee…earned first-team all-district and second-team All-Tidewater honors as a junior with second team all-district accolades sophomore year….lettered in five spots: football, basketball, wrestling, soccer and track and field...is married to Shonda, and they have one daughter, Kaylor…Full name:
