Roster moves continue for Steelers

The Steelers signed Justin Thomas, and waived/injured Greg Ducre.

The Steelers signed rookie wide receiver Justin Thomas, a player who made a change to try to make it in the NFL.

He was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted rookie free agent after impressing the team during a tryout at rookie minicamp. He was later waived by the Saints, and signed by the Los Angeles Rams. He was released by the Rams on Aug. 18.

Thomas played quarterback at Georgia Tech, but at 5-9, 186 pounds, he knew he would have to switch positions. He played defensive back and was a kick returner in the Senior Bowl, and at his Pro Day worked at multiple positions, including wide receiver, quarterback, defensive back and kick returner.

Thomas completed 259 of 532 passes, 48.7 percent, for 4.754 yards, 40 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.

The versatile Thomas also rushed for 2,412 yards on 505 carries.

In a corresponding move the Steelers waived/injured third-year cornerback Greg Ducre, who was injured against the Falcons.
