Posted Oct 1, 2017

Le'Veon Bell was a special player for the first time this season in a win over the Ravens.

BALTIMORE – When the Steelers and Ravens get together, especially for a game at M&T Bank Stadium, there usually are two things that end up being true. It’s a close game, and running the football is extremely difficult.

Not so today. The Steelers took control of the game early with their defense, and then they closed it out with a running attack that rolled up 173 yards on 42 attempts and accounted for two touchdowns in what ended up being a 26-9 victory. The win not only put the Steelers at 3-1, but they are 2-0 against AFC North Division teams on the road so far.

Earlier in the week, Le’Veon Bell told the media that he hadn’t been a special player to this point in the season, but he certainly was special against the Ravens. Bell rushed for 144 yards on 35 carries (4.1 average) and scored two touchdowns. He also caught four passes for another 42 yards to finish with 186 yards from scrimmage.

Bell is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were Ryan Shazier, who had 11 tackles, an interception, and three passes defensed; Cam Heyward, who had four tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery; the offensive line that allowed the Steelers to finish with 173 yards on the ground and those two touchdowns; JuJu Smith-Schuster, who caught three passes for 47 yards and a touchdown; Mike Hilton, who had three tackles, a sack, an interception, and a pass defensed; Stephon Tuitt, who had three tackles, including one for loss, two hits on the quarterback, and he shared a sack with Bud Dupree; and Coty Sensabaugh, who had two tackles on special teams.
