Ben is Digest Player of the Week

Roethlisberger passed for 311 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers' loss in New England.

FOXBOROUGH, Ma. – It was a bad time for the Steelers to play poorly, what with the AFC Championship and a spot in Super Bowl LI at stake, but there is little argument that they played poorly as a team.

It wasn’t one of Ben Roethlisberger’s best days, but he did finish by completing 31-of-47 for 314 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, and he didn’t exactly get a lot of help from his receivers because there were at least two passes dropped in the end zone. Then when Le’Veon Bell was forced out of the game midway through the first half with a groin injury, the Steelers offense never managed to mount much of a running attack in his absence.

Roethlisberger is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.

Also considered were Lawrence Timmons, who led the team with 14 tackles, including two for loss; Antonio Brown, who caught seven passes for 77 yards and had one punt return for 10 yards; Javon Hargrave, who had five tackles, including two for loss, and a sack; and DeAngelo Williams, who found himself playing a lot more than planned after Bell’s injury and finished with 85 yards from scrimmage – 34 rushing and 51 on seven receptions -- and he scored a touchdown on a 5-yard run.
