What Went Right, What Went Wrong

What went right, wrong vs. Cleveland

The highs and lows of the Steelers Week 17 game vs. the Cleveland Browns.

**

1:00 p.m. ET** - Kickoff

1:07 p.m. ET - What went right: The Steelers won the coin toss and elected to defer, and with the help of a false start penalty on second down on the Browns, the defense authored a three-and-out, with Will Gay almost coming up with an interception on a third-down wide receiver screen that was intended for Terrelle Pryor.

1:11 p.m. ET - What went wrong: The Steelers' opening offensive possession was no more successful than the Browns', the following Jordan Berry's punt Cleveland's offense marched 55 yards in eight plays to take a 7-0 lead on a 12-yard pass from Robert Griffin III to Seth DeValve. Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson combined for 23 yards rushing on the drive.

1:20 p.m. ET - What went wrong: On each of the Steelers' first two possessions, Landry Jones was sacked on third downs to force a punt each time. On the first, there was initial pressure that came over the left side, but then the sack was made by inside linebacker Demario Davis. On the second, Davis' running mate at inside linebacker – Christian Kirksey – came in clean up the middle and wasn't picked up by third-down back Fitz Toussaint.

1:27 p.m. ET - What went wrong:** On a third-and-6 from the 24-yard line with 4:33 left in the first quarter, the Steelers defense got sloppy with its pass rush, and Robert Griffin III found an opening and exploited it for a 19-yard run for a first down to the Browns 43-yard line.

1:33 p..m. ET - What went right: The Steelers defense got off the field with 2:10 left in the first quarter thanks to a Sean Davis sack of Robert Griffin III, but a holding penalty on Rosie Nix during the ensuing punt forced the Steelers to begin their third offensive possession of the game at their own 7-yard line.

1:47 p.m. ET - What went wrong: The Browns extended their lead to 14-0 with nine-plus minutes left in the first half following an 11-play, 67-yard drive that ended up in the end zone with a 4-yard pass to Gary Barnidge. The Browns were 2-for-2 on third downs during the drive, and after it, Robert Griffin III was 14-for-17 for 102 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

2:01 p.m. ET - What went right: The Browns rushed for 30 of the 51 yards on a possession that took them from their own 32-yard line to a first-and-10 from the Steelers 17-yard line. At that point, Robert Griffin III tried to get the ball to Rashard Higgins, who was in the end zone. Ryan Shazier came across and made a diving interception at the 1-yard line.

2:21 p.m. ET - What went right:** The Steelers' offense came alive following Sean Davis' fumble recovery, and the touchdown that came on an 11-yard pass to Le'Veon Bell cut the Browns lead to 14-7 with 31 seconds left in the first half. On the drive, Landry Jones completed 3-of-5 for 30 yards and the touchdown.

2:32 p.m. ET - Halftime: Browns 14, Steelers 7

2:43 p.m. ET - What went right: Cleveland's first possession of the second half was ruined by a Bud Dupree sack on second down that created a third-and-16 that the Browns couldn'rt convert. After the punt the Steelers took over at their own 39-yard line.

**

3:01 p.m. ET - What went right:** Hustle by Darrius Heyward-Bey saved the Steelers a touchdown late in the third quarter. Landry Jones' pass was intercepted at the Cleveland 32-yard line by Briean Boddy-Calhoun, and his return of that interception seemingly was going to end with a Browns touchdown. But Heyward-Bey never gave up on the play, and he knocked the ball out of Boddy-Calhoun's hands at the 1-yard line. When it was recovered by Jones in the end zone, it was a touchback and the Steelers took over at their 20-yard line.

3:17 p.m. ET - What went right: The Steelers offense cashed in the turnover created by Heyward-Bey with an 80-yard touchdown drive that tied the game, 14-14, with 13:21 remaining in the game. DeAngelo Williams carried four times for 31 yards, including the 1-yard touchdown, and Landry Jones completed 4-of-5 for 41 yards.

**

3:39 p.m. ET - What went right:** The Steelers capitalized on the missed field goal with a five-play, 51-yard drive that ended up in the end zone via an 11-yard touchdown pass from Landry Jones to Demarcus Ayers. The big play on the drive was a 46-yard catch by Darrius Heyward-Bey. The Ayers touchdown gave the Steelers a 21-14 lead.

3:42 p.m. ET - What went wrong: The Steelers' lead didn't last long. After Ryan Shazier sacked Robert Griffin III to set up a second-and-14, Isaiah Crowell took a handoff, broke one tackle and began a long, winding journey through the Steelers secondary that didn't end until Sean Davis and Artie Burns got him on the ground at the Steelers 5-yard line. George Atkinson III scored on the next play to bring the Browns into a 21-21 tie with about 3:30 left in the fourth quarter.

3:55 p.m. ET - What went right: Following a 45-yard catch and run by Terrelle Pryor off a double-move on Artie Burns that gave the Browns a first-and-goal at the Steelers 5-yard line with about one minute remaining in the fourth quarter, Cleveland seemed to be in position to win in Pittsburgh for the first time since 2003. On first down, Isaiah Crowell took a handoff, but Jarvis Jones forced a fumble that Mike Mitchell recovered for the Steelers at the 3-yard line with 56 second remaining.

4:30 p.m. ET - Final Score: Steelers 27, Browns 24
