LAWRENCE TIMMONSInside LinebackerTheir starting quarterback was at the hospital having his right shoulder examined, and their starting free safety was being evaluated for a possible concussion. There was no
Troy Polamalu
or
Rashard Mendenhall
or
Antonio Brown
, and the Steelers needed somebody to step up in a critical situation.
That turned out to be
Lawrence Timmons
, who stepped in front of a pass intended for Dewayne Bowe on the second play of overtime and made an interception that he returned 23 yards to the Kansas City 5-yard line. On the next play,
Shaun Suisham
kicked the field goal that gave the Steelers a 16-13 win.
Lawrence Timmons, who also had seven tackles and two passes defensed, is the
Steelers Digest Player of the Week.
Also considered were
Brett Keisel
, who had eight tackles and two sacks;
Ryan Clark
, who had 10 tackles; and
Mike Wallace
, who made an acrobatic catch in the back corner of the end zone for the Steelers’ only touchdown on the night.
