Steelers vs. Bengals: First Shutout

Pittsburgh and Cincinnati faced off on Monday Night Football in mid-October, 1992. The result was a 20-0 shutout by the Steelers, the first shutout in series history for either team.

The Steelers’ defense smothered the Bengals. Pittsburgh allowed 122 total net yards and held Cincinnati to 1-of-11 on third-downs. The defense also had three sacks and forced two fumbles.

K Gary Anderson nailed a 21-yard field goal late in the first quarter to give Pittsburgh a 3-0 lead. QB Neil O’Donnell and WR Dwight Stone connected on a 24-yard touchdown to give the Steelers a 10-0 halftime lead.

In the fourth quarter, Stone and O’Donnell connected again on a five-yard touchdown pass and K Gary Anderson made a 27-yard field goal to give the Steelers the 20-0 victory.

RB Barry Foster rushed for 108 yards in a season when he went on to rush for a team record 1,690 yards.
