Steelers make roster moves

Posted Dec 29, 2012

The Steelers have placed wide receiver Mike Wallace, offensive tackle Mike Adams and cornerback Curtis Brown on their Reserve/Injured List, it was announced today.

Wallace led the team with 836 receiving yards and was tied for second on the team with eight receiving touchdowns.

Adams, who recently received the Joe Greene Great Performance Award for the team’s top rookie, saw action in 10 games this season, making six starts. Adams injured his left ankle in the November 25th contest at Cleveland and has been inactive the past four games due to the injury.

Brown has seen action in all 15 games this season, recording eight tackles and one pass breakup. He has also excelled on special teams, recording a team-high 17 tackles.

To fill the roster spots, Pittsburgh promoted wide receiver David Gilreath and nose tackle Alameda Ta’amu from the practice squad. Gilreath will wear 18, and Ta’amu will wear 95.

The Steelers also claimed defensive tackle Hebron Fangupo (heb-ron fan-goo-po) off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks. Fangupo spent the first 15 weeks on the Seahawks’ practice squad before being promoted to their active roster in Week 16. He spent the entirety of training camp with the Houston Texans but was released prior to the start of the season. Fangupo originally signed with the Texans as an undrafted rookie free agent out of BYU on May 14, 2012.
