After losing their first six games at Cleveland, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns, 24-16. The Browns scored the first 13 points on big plays. QB Babe Parilli and TE Dante Lavelli connected on a 68-yard touchdown and DB Don R. Paul returned a Pittsburgh interception 35 yards for a score. Pittsburgh responded with three second-quarter touchdowns. First, QB Ted Marchibroda and TE Elbie Nickel connected on a 10-yard touchdown. Then, RB Lynn Chandnois scored on a one-yard run. Their final score of the second quarter came on the team’s longest play of the season, a 75-yard touchdown pass from Marchibroda to TE Lowell Perry to give Pittsburgh a 21-13 lead at halftime. Both teams exchanged field goals in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough as the Steelers secured their first victory at Cleveland.
