It’s no secret the Steelers’ have a great fan base, with a large portion of those who support the black and gold being female fans. And on Monday night, those ladies showed their loyalty and football knowledge at the annual Steelers Ladies’ Night Out event, presented by Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC.
“Steelers Nation is the best fan base in the league and we have a lot of women who make up that group,” said tight end
Miller and linebacker
“Since I got here last year I saw how much females love Steelers football,” said Jones. “Even when I am home in Georgia I hear about it. We do a lot of events here for the ladies, and they always seem to have fun.
“It’s a great opportunity to share with them some of the things we got through daily, weekly and don’t always understand. Sometimes they just see the game, the fun part of it, and don’t see all of the week that is put in daily and throughout the week. It’s a great opportunity to give them insight into what we do here at the Steelers organization.”
After hearing from the players, the ladies went on a tour of Heinz Field and participated in on field drills with Steelers’ alumni Charlie Batch, Louis Lipps and Edmund Nelson.
“It’s very exciting,” said Jennifer Derrick, of Washington, Pa. “It’s an opportunity to ask a lot of questions, ask the players whatever you want, and get more up close and personal with them. I love it.”
