"Hash Marks" Weekly Fantasy Report: Week 7

Posted Oct 17, 2013

New to Steelers.com is the weekly fantasy football report brought to you by me, Eddie "Hash Marks" Harris. I will give a recap of the previous weekend that was and will throw out some suggestions for the upcoming weekend’s games. Check back every Thursday morning to see my analysis on what it takes to get into the end zone in your fantasy league.

The Best of Week 6

Vernon Davis – Any questions about the health of Davis’ hamstring were answered. He had his best outing of the season, recording eight receptions for 180 yards and two scores in a win against the Arizona Cardinals. Davis’ 180 receiving yards are a career-high and are tied for the eighth-most receiving yards in a single game by a tight end since 1960.

Cam Newton – After recording a season-low seven points the previous week, Newton bounced back with his best performance so far in 2013 in a win against the Minnesota Vikings. Newton was almost flawless, completing 20-of-26 passes for 242 yards and three scores, and he added one rushing touchdown. His 76.9 completion percentage was the second-highest of his career in a single game.

Nick Foles – With Michael Vick injured, the Eagles turned to Nick Foles. In his first start of the season, Foles helped keep the Tampa Bay Buccaneers winless as he recorded a career-high 133.3 passer rating. He completed 22-of-31 passes for 296 yards with a career-high three touchdowns. One of those touchdowns was a career-long 47-yard strike to WR Riley Cooper. Foles also added one rushing touchdown for good measure.

Knowshon Moreno – In an offense dominated by Peyton Manning, Moreno has quietly put up some impressive numbers, as he now ranks fourth in total fantasy points for running backs. He recorded 104 yards from scrimmage and three rushing touchdowns in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. Moreno has scored in three straight contests and has crossed the goal line seven times in his last five games.

Possible Week 7 Starters

Tony Romo – Though Romo is a career 8-6 versus Philadelphia, his Cowboys swept the Eagles in 2012 as he racked up 512 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions, while completing 77.4% of his passes. This season, Romo is averaging more than 280 passing yards per game. The Eagles’ defense this season is giving up 314.5 net passing yards per game. Look for Romo to continue his success against the league’s second-worst past defense.

Adrian Peterson – The Vikings found themselves down early last week, thus Peterson only had 10 carries. This week though, the Vikings face the winless New York Giants. The two teams haven’t met since 2010 but you have to like the reigning NFL MVP’s chances against a team that gives up 123.3 rushing yards per game and 23 rushes of 10+ yards. By the way, Peterson has rushed for at least 100 yards in 11 of the last 15 regular-season games.

Reggie Wayne – Wayne became just the ninth player in NFL history to record 1,000 career receptions last week. Wayne has been consistent all season, and is going up against the worst pass defense in the league, statistically. Denver gives up 337.7 net passing yards per game and has given up a total of 23 passes of 25+ yards. The Broncos have also allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season. Expect Wayne to have a solid game.
