The Steelers have good news on the injury front this week, something that is needed as they will try to get their first win of the season this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
“If you look at us from an injury standpoint going into this game we’re the best that we’ve been,” said Coach Mike Tomlin.
Last week tight end
“We were on a pitch count if you will in terms of the amount of snaps we gave him,” said Tomlin. “He performed well. We will continue to move forward hopefully this week with no restrictions whatsoever and let him continue to work his way back to health and help us at the tight end position.”
“He is going to practice and his availability will be based on that participation,” said Tomlin. “We’re optimistic he is going to be able to play in this football game.”
Tomlin also indicated rookie Le’Veon Bell, who has been hampered by a foot injury since the preseason, could play this week.
“He perked up dramatically at the end of last week,” said Tomlin. “We’re excited about watching him be a full participant this week during the course of practice and let that dictate his play. He has been doing a nice job of working from a rehabilitation standpoint. We’re optimistic about his availability. We’ll let the practice process be our guide in deciding how much work he gets in the football game.”
