Chesney, Swift attract huge crowds

Posted Jun 7, 2015

Heinz Field concerts drawing huge crowds this year.

Heinz Field is a hotbed for concerts this summer, and apparently fans agree.

Last week the largest crowd ever for a country music concert at Heinz Field turned out, with 55,381 in attendance at the Kenny Chesney concert.

This week, another huge crowd packed Heinz Field as 55,000 turned out for the Taylor Swift concert.

"The two major concerts already at Heinz Field this year - Kenny Chesney and Taylor Swift - have been spectacular," said Jimmie Sacco, Executive Director of Stadium Management at Heinz Field. "The crowds were amazing, and it has been a pleasure to work closely not only with the entertainers and their staffs, but also everyone involved around Heinz Field to make them both successful concerts.

Both concerts were also a huge economic impact for the Pittsburgh region, with hotels and restaurants seeing a booming business.

"Without the help of so many people around the City of Pittsburgh, we wouldn't be able to host such marquee events," said Sacco. "I think we have proved that Pittsburgh and Heinz Field can provide some of the best entertainment in the region, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to continue showcasing Western Pennsylvania. We look forward to continuing that momentum with the Rolling Stones concert."

And things are just heating up. The Rolling Stones ZIP CODE tour will make a stop at Heinz Field on June 20, one of only 15 stops on their North American stadium tour.

Before football season gets rolling, another concert will have Heinz Field buzzing when One Direction brings their On The Road Again 2015 concert to Pittsburgh on Aug. 2.
