Archer: 'It felt good to get back out there'

Posted Jun 4, 2014

Dri Archer is happy to be back with his teammates at OTAs.

Archer is back to business: As Dri Archer walked off the practice field following OTAs on Tuesday, one of the first things he said was, “Back to business.” And he was mighty happy for that.

The rookie running back/receiver missed the first week of the team’s OTAs, attending a mandatory NFLPA Rookie Premier, with one rookie selected from each team having to be on hand.

“I had to go there the beginning of last week,” said Archer. “It was something I had to do. I would have much rather been here on the football field learning the playbook, but it was something I had to do.”

Now that he is back, it’s full speed ahead on the learning front.

“It feels good,” said Archer. “It felt good to get back out there with my teammates and get back into the playbook, and just have fun playing football. I’m a little behind. It was something I had to do, but I’m just into my playbook now and getting mental reps when I’m not playing. So, I’m out here trying to get better.”

Bryant making strides: Rookie receiver Martavis Bryant, the team’s fourth-round draft pick, is starting to adjust to the offense during the team’s OTAs.

“It’s going good,” said Bryant. “It’s a smooth process. I am learning a lot along the way and getting better each and every day. The guys are willing to help me and I am willing to learn so it’s been a great process.

“Everybody I ask questions of is helpful. I am always asking questions.”

While Bryant said he needs to work on every aspect of his game right now, hitting the playbook is always a big priority for him.

“You just have to take the time out, study what you need to and be prepared the following day,” said Bryant. “As long as I can study and work hard every day, everything should take care of itself.”
