Antonio Brown Steelers' 2013 MVP

Posted Dec 26, 2013

Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown was recognized for his outstanding play today by his teammates, who voted him the team’s 2013 Most Valuable Player. It is the second time in Brown’s four-year career that he has received the honor. He becomes the 11th player in team history to be named Steelers’ Most Valuable Player on multiple occasions.

Brown is having one of the best statistical seasons by any receiver in team history. Through Week 16, Brown has already set career highs with 101 receptions, 1,412 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns. He is just the second player in team history to record 100 receptions in a single season, and his 1,412 receiving yards are a new single-season team record.

He also serves as the team’s punt returner on special teams. Brown is averaging 13.4 yards per punt return this season, and he recorded his second career punt return for touchdown in the team’s Week 15 victory versus Cincinnati. He recently surpassed 1,000 career punt return yards, becoming just the fifth player in team history to accomplish the feat.

Brown has recorded at least five receptions and fifty receiving yards in 15 straight games, a team record, and has recorded nine or more receptions four times this season. He has five 100-yard receiving games and has three multi-touchdown outings on the year. Brown has recorded at least one reception in 55 straight games in which he has played, including the postseason.
