COORS LIGHT FOURTH ANNUAL KICKOFF AND RIB FEST TO BEGIN

AUGUST 30 ON NORTH SHORE

 

PITTSBURGH Fans can kick off Labor Day Weekend and enjoy five straight days of great food and entertainment at the Coors Light Fourth Annual Kickoff and Rib Fest. The festival runs from Aug. 30 through Sept. 3 on the North Shore.

 

 

The weekend includes five days of football, ribs and rock-n-roll with free admission to all festival grounds and concerts.

 

 

A free concert by Foghat kicks off the event on Thursday as the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday is highlighted by another free concert by Pittsburgh's own, The Clarks, which is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday night Pitt football opens their 2007 campaign as the Panthers host Eastern Michigan at 6 p.m.

 

 

On Sunday, the 19th Annual Gatorade/Steelers 5K Race is featured in the morning, Marvel Super Heroes Stage shows in the afternoon featuring the X-Men and Spider Man, and a free concert by Bad Company with Brian Howe highlights the evening. Monday concludes the Kickoff and Rib Fest with exhibition boxing and a concert by The Povertyneck Hillbillies and Jack Ingram. There will be kids' activities throughout the weekend and free motorcycle parking on General Robinson Street.

 

 

Sponors for the five-day event include WDVE-FM, KDKA-TV, Froggy, Big Machine Records, Kingsford, U.S. Army, TUMS, Coca-Cola, Cricket and Hilton.

 

 

The following is a schedule of events for the five-day festival:

 

 

ADMISSION:

• Free for festival grounds and concerts; regular ticket charge for Pitt vs. Eastern Michigan football game

• For Concerts: there will be a $10 upgrade charge to sit in the limited gold circle seats for the Thursday, Sunday and Monday shows.

 

 

Thursday August 30th: Noon12 a.m.

Friday August 31st: Noon12 a.m.

• Coca-Cola Great Hall Open Free – Steelers Memorabilia displays and Hall of Fame Lockers.

• Free Concert:

• The Clarks with special guests Alternate Routes (There will be no seat upgrades available for this show)

• Free Bike (motorcycle) parking on General Robinson Street

 

 

Saturday September 1st: Noon12 a.m.

• Festival Grounds are open free to the public.

• Regular Pitt Gameday activities

• Pitt vs. Eastern Michigan, 6 p.m.

• No Bike Parking on Saturday
