Steelers Release Tight End, Running Back

PITTSBURGH The Steelers released tight end Erik Jensen and running back Fred Staton from their off-season roster, the team announced today.

Jensen (6-3, 236) spent part of last season on the Steelers' practice squad after signing with the team on Dec. 20. Jensen, originally a seventh-round draft pick (237th overall) in the 2004 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams, missed the entire 2004 season after suffering a knee injury in a preseason game.  Jenson attended Iowa.

First-year player Staton (5-10, 251) was signed this off-season and played collegiately at Tusculum.
